I read 1 Samuel 9 yesterday and was struck by how God used missing donkeys to bring Saul and Samuel together, so that Samuel could know who God had appointed to be king. Saul's recorded response to the missing donkeys isn't one of frustration. He didn't say, "God has cursed us" or "has the hand of God turned against us?" This is my typical heart-response to things that don't go my way.
I was reminded, again, of how God is working a million things in ways I could never understand. I'm trying to remember the lost donkeys as events unfold differently than I expect.
